SALIX conducts avian surveys to document bird community composition, breeding activity, and habitat use across a range of landscapes. Surveys are tailored to project goals and may include fixed-radius point counts, line transect surveys, breeding bird assessments, and migratory stopover evaluations.

Point counts and transects are conducted using standardized protocols to quantify species presence, relative abundance, and community structure. Breeding season surveys document territorial behavior, nesting evidence, and habitat associations to support conservation planning and land management decisions. Migratory stopover assessments evaluate habitat use during spring and fall migration, identifying areas of importance for resting and foraging birds.

Survey data can inform restoration planning, habitat management, environmental review, land acquisition decisions, and long-term monitoring efforts. Deliverables may include species lists, abundance summaries, GIS mapping of survey locations, and interpretive reports tailored to project objectives.

Field services are billed at $75 per hour for organizations and $65 per hour for private landowners. Travel time is billed at $50 per hour, plus $0.725 per mile from Bloomington, Indiana. For sites located more than two hours from Bloomington, lodging expenses may apply. Data management and reporting are billed at the standard hourly rate based on project scope.
