Educational services


SALIX provides science-based educational programming designed to increase ecological literacy and strengthen conservation outcomes across the Midwest. Programs are tailored to landowners, conservation organizations, agencies, schools, and community groups.

Educational offerings include botanical workshops, native plant identification trainings, Floristic Quality Assessment (FQA) instruction, invasive species recognition and management workshops, and guided avian and botanical field excursions. Presentations may be customized for professional audiences, university classrooms, or public outreach events.
​
Field-based programs emphasize hands-on learning, with instruction in plant identification, habitat assessment, ecological monitoring techniques, and conservation best practices. Workshops can be structured as introductory overviews or advanced technical trainings depending on audience needs.

Educational services are billed at $75 per hour and travel time is billed at $50 per hour, plus $0.725 per mile from Bloomington, Indiana. For events located more than two hours from Bloomington, lodging expenses may apply.

Customized multi-day workshops, contracted training series, and collaborative programming can be developed upon request.
