Introduction

SALIX provides science-based habitat restoration and land management services designed to improve ecological integrity, increase native biodiversity, and support long-term conservation outcomes. Management strategies are tailored to site conditions, landowner goals, and regional ecological context.

Services include native tree and shrub planting, prairie and meadow establishment, native plant garden design and installation for private landowners, and forest stand management. Projects may range from small residential habitat enhancements to larger conservation-focused restoration efforts.

Restoration planning begins with site assessment, including evaluation of hydrology, existing vegetation, and invasive species pressure. From this assessment, SALIX develops targeted management strategies that prioritize native species establishment, structural diversity, and long-term ecological resilience.

Native Plant Gardens for Private Landowners

SALIX designs and installs native plant gardens that provide habitat for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife while maintaining an intentional, aesthetically coherent appearance appropriate for residential settings. Species are selected based on light conditions, soil characteristics, and desired bloom succession to ensure seasonal interest and ecological function.

Installations may include prairie plantings, woodland gardens, rain gardens, and pollinator-focused landscapes. Guidance on establishment, maintenance, and long-term management is provided to ensure continued success.

Forest Stand Management

Forest management services focus on improving stand structure, promoting regeneration of native species, and reducing invasive plant pressure. Management plans may include selective thinning recommendations, invasive species control, replanting of native understory species, and long-term monitoring to evaluate treatment effectiveness.

Tree Planting & Reforestation

Tree and shrub plantings are designed to enhance habitat connectivity, stabilize soils, and increase structural diversity. Species selection emphasizes native taxa suited to site conditions and long-term climate resilience.
