SALIX conducts floristic surveys using Floristic Quality Assessments (FQAs) to evaluate the ecological integrity of a site. FQA uses regionally assigned conservatism scores to assess how strongly plant species are associated with high-quality, undisturbed habitats. These scores are combined with species richness to generate standardized metrics that quantify site condition and conservation value.

FQA results provide defensible, science-based measures that support conservation planning, restoration prioritization, land acquisition decisions, and environmental review.

Each SALIX floristic survey provides a comprehensive inventory of vascular plants at the site of interest, including a complete species list, FQA, and an ecological interpretation. Vascular plant rare species monitoring is automatically included as a service in all SALIX floristic surveys. Taxa that cannot be identified in the field are collected and verified prior to reporting. Photographic documentation of species observed during floristic surveys is available upon request for an additional fee. Vegetation mapping requires significant additional time and is billed separately but can be included on the same contract as a SALIX floristic survey.

SALIX can survey up to 50 acres per eight-hour day for floristic inventories. Field services are billed at $75 per hour for organizations and $65 per hour for private landowners. Travel time is billed at $50 per hour, plus $0.725 per mile from Bloomington, Indiana. For sites located more than two hours from Bloomington, lodging expenses may apply.

For every eight hours of fieldwork, one hour of data management and report preparation is billed at the same hourly rate. Photographic portfolios of every species observed on site are available upon request at $5 per documented species, with a maximum additional fee of $2,000.
